Kiyomizu-dera temple will host the Pink Light Up 2026 event on October 20, 2026, in collaboration with the Estée Lauder Group. This annual campaign aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and support research efforts. The temple has been co-hosting this event since 2013 as part of its social activities. The evening will feature a memorial service for those who have passed away from breast cancer, followed by a special nighttime viewing session from 6:45 PM to 9:30 PM. The admission fee of 500 yen for this session will be donated to the Japan Breast Cancer Research Group (JBCRG).

The main hall of Kiyomizu-dera will be illuminated in pink from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, symbolizing hope and support for those affected by breast cancer. Additionally, two drone shows will be held at 7:00 PM and 8:15 PM, each lasting approximately 15 minutes. The event may be canceled in case of bad weather. The nighttime viewing will be limited to certain areas of the temple.

A special bonsai exhibition by TRADMAN’S BONSAI will be held at the temple's Kyodo Hall from October 1 to October 20, 2026. This exhibition features bonsai works that express themes such as 'thoughts for the future' and 'vitality.' The exhibition hall will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The admission fee for the bonsai exhibition is 1,000 yen, but it will be reduced to 500 yen during the nighttime special viewing on October 20.

At the west gate of the temple, pink ribbon marks will be displayed using Princessia plants, donated by Suntory Flowers Corporation. These decorations will be visible to visitors throughout the day of the event. The pink ribbons serve as a visual symbol of the campaign against breast cancer.

Kiyomizu-dera encourages visitors to participate in the memorial service and nighttime viewing to pay respects and show support for those affected by breast cancer. The temple hopes that this event will contribute to the broader goal of creating a world without breast cancer through awareness and research.
