Hosuseri-no-mikoto, also known as Umisachihiko, is a figure from Japanese mythology recorded in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, said to be the elder brother of Hikohohodemi (Yamasachihiko) and a son of Amatsuhikohiko Hoori's father, Ninigi-no-Mikoto. He is traditionally associated with the sea and fishing, having received the fortune of the ocean as his domain, in contrast to his brother's fortune of the mountains and hunting. The myths recounting the brothers' exchanged fortunes and subsequent conflict are often cited as origin narratives explaining certain fishing customs and the relationship between coastal and inland peoples.
