Shiotsuchi-no-Okami is a deity in Japanese mythology associated with the sea and tides, often depicted as an old man who guides travelers and offers counsel, most notably assisting Hoori (Yamasachihiko) in reaching the palace of the sea god in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. Because of this role as a guide who directs journeys across the sea, the deity has come to be linked with travel and safe passage. Shrines dedicated to Shiotsuchi-no-Okami are found in parts of Japan, particularly in coastal regions, where the deity is honored alongside other kami connected to the sea and navigation.
