Ohirume-no-mikoto, more widely known as Amaterasu, is the sun goddess of Shinto tradition, described in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki as born from the left eye of Izanagi and revered as the ancestral deity of the imperial line. She is enshrined chiefly at Ise Grand Shrine and is honored as a supreme kami whose light governs the natural and cosmic order. Traditions associate her with prosperity and abundance, though such benefits are understood as devotional attributions rather than guaranteed outcomes.
