Tagori-hime-no-kami is one of the three Munakata goddesses said to have been born from Susanoo's sword when it was purified by Amaterasu, according to Japanese mythological chronicles like the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. She is enshrined at the Munakata Taisha shrine complex in Fukuoka, historically venerated by seafarers and clans with maritime connections due to her association with the sea and safe passage across water. Alongside her sister deities Tagitsu-hime and Ichikishima-hime, she is regarded as a guardian of sea routes and fishing communities in Shinto tradition.
