Tagitsu-hime-no-kami is one of the three Munakata goddesses, said in Japanese mythology to have been born from the sword of Susanoo-no-Mikoto during his oath with Amaterasu. Together with her sisters Ichikishima-hime and Tagori-hime, she is enshrined at the Munakata Taisha and other related shrines, traditionally associated with the sea, safe passage, and fishing communities along coastal Japan. Her worship reflects the historical importance of maritime travel and marine livelihoods to the regions where she is venerated.”
