Tagorihime no Kami is one of the three Munakata goddesses (Munakata Sanjojin) born from Susanoo's sword when purified by Amaterasu in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. She is enshrined primarily at Munakata Taisha in Fukuoka Prefecture and is traditionally associated with safe sea travel and maritime protection, reflecting the coastal origins of her worship. Over time she has also come to be venerated alongside her sister deities in connection with prosperity and good fortune, though this association developed through later devotional traditions rather than the earliest textual sources.
