Tagorihime no Mikoto is one of the three Munakata goddesses born from the sword of Susanoo through purification rites described in early Japanese chronicles such as the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. She is enshrined among the Munakata deities, traditionally venerated as guardians of safe sea travel and as protectors of the connection between Japan and the Asian continent. Over time, the Munakata goddesses, including Tagorihime, have also come to be associated with prosperity and good fortune, reflecting their broader role in Shinto tradition as bringers of blessings.
