Wakahirume no Mikoto is a Shinto deity known from the Nihon Shoki, where she appears as a weaving maiden serving Amaterasu, engaged in the making of sacred garments for the gods. She is traditionally associated with weaving and textile crafts, and by extension has come to be honored in connection with the arts. Shrines dedicated to her, such as those found in Mie Prefecture, reflect her enduring reverence as a figure tied to creative and artisanal work.
