Izanami no Mikoto

Izanami no Mikoto is a primordial deity in Japanese mythology, described in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki as the female counterpart and consort of Izanagi no Mikoto, together credited with creating the Japanese islands and many kami. After dying in childbirth and descending to Yomi, the land of the dead, she became associated with mortality and the boundary between life and death, and her mythic bond with Izanagi is often referenced in relation to themes of partnership and marriage.
