Amenokoyane no Okami is a kami mentioned in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, traditionally regarded as the ancestral deity of the Nakatomi and Fujiwara clans and closely associated with divination and ritual prayer. According to myth, he performed sacred rites and incantations to help lure Amaterasu from the cave in which she had hidden, an episode central to accounts of restoring light and order.
