Shaka Nyorai (living Shaka)

Shaka Nyorai is the Japanese name for Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha Siddhartha Gautama, revered in Japanese Buddhism as the founder of the Buddhist teachings. Depictions known as "living Shaka" or Ikko Shaka portray him in a lifelike form, often based on traditions said to derive from images made during his lifetime, and are venerated as objects of devotion in temples across Japan.
