Onamuchi-no-Mikoto

Onamuchi-no-Mikoto is an alternate name for Okuninushi, a prominent kami in Japanese mythology recorded in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, credited with helping to build and pacify the land of Izumo. He is traditionally associated with nation-building, healing, and medicine, notably through his cooperation with the deity Sukunahikona in establishing practices of healing arts. Okuninushi is also venerated in connection with marriage and relationships, largely through his role in mythological accounts of courtship and matchmaking, and he remains enshrined at Izumo Taisha, one of Japan's oldest and most significant Shinto shrines.
