Mitoshi no Kami

Mitoshi no Kami (御年神) is a deity in Japanese mythology associated primarily with the harvest and the fertility of grains, particularly rice, rather than human childbirth specifically. Known also as Toshigami, this kami is traditionally venerated at the New Year and during agricultural rites to ensure a bountiful yield and the continued fruitfulness of the fields. Some devotees have extended veneration of Mitoshi no Kami to broader themes of fertility and abundance, though this connection is less central to the deity's classical mythological role.
