Ame-no-Oshihomimi-no-mikoto is a kami appearing in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, born from Amaterasu during the divine contest with Susanoo and counted among her offspring in the Amatsukami lineage. He is traditionally regarded as the father of Ame-no-Hoakari and Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the latter being the ancestor sent to rule the earthly realm, linking Oshihomimi to the imperial genealogical line. Some shrines associate him with agricultural abundance and, by extension, with prosperity, though this connection reflects later devotional tradition rather than a fixed role in the earliest myths.
