Konohanasakuya-hime-no-mikoto is a kami from Japanese mythology, appearing in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki as the daughter of the mountain deity Ōyamatsumi and consort of the heavenly grandson Ninigi-no-Mikoto. She is best known for the episode in which, to prove the legitimacy of her rapidly conceived children, she entered a burning birthing hut and emerged unharmed with three sons, an account that underlies her long-standing association with childbirth and safe delivery. She is enshrined at sites such as Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha and is traditionally linked to Mount Fuji and to blossoming, as her name is often connected to cherry blossoms, though devotees regard these associations through faith rather than as verified fact.
