Amida Nyorai (Ikko Sanzon)

Amida Nyorai, the Buddha of Immeasurable Light, presides over the Western Pure Land (Sukhavati) in Mahayana and Pure Land Buddhist teaching, offering rebirth there to those who call upon his name with sincere faith. The Ikko Sanzon is a triad depiction featuring Amida flanked by the bodhisattvas Kannon and Seishi, a configuration especially associated with Zenkoji-style imagery in Japan. Within Japanese Buddhist practice, this triad is closely tied to funerary rites and memorial devotion, reflecting hope for a peaceful afterlife and guidance of the deceased toward the Pure Land.
