Takeminakata-no-kami

Takeminakata-no-kami is a Shinto kami enshrined chiefly at Suwa Grand Shrine in Nagano, and figures prominently in the mythological narrative of the land-transfer (kuniyuzuri) recorded in the Kojiki, where he contends with Takemikazuchi before yielding and retreating to the Suwa region. He is traditionally venerated as a god associated with wind, water, and agricultural fertility, reflecting Suwa's long history of harvest and hunting rites, and is also regarded as a guardian deity linked to martial strength and contests of power.
