Konohanasakuya-hime-no-mikoto

Konohanasakuya-hime-no-mikoto is a Shinto goddess appearing in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, traditionally identified with the blossoming of cherry trees and associated with Mount Fuji, where she is enshrined at Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha and related shrines. According to these narratives, she proved her fidelity by giving birth safely within a burning birthing hut, and for this reason she has long been venerated in connection with childbirth and the wellbeing of mothers and children. She is also honored more broadly as a guardian associated with safety and protection, reflecting her enduring role in Japanese religious tradition.
