Kukurihime-no-kami is a Shinto deity primarily known for her appearance in the Hakusan (White Mountain) faith centered at Shirayama Hime Shrine in Ishikawa Prefecture, where she is venerated as the principal kami of Mount Haku. She is traditionally associated with purification and mediation, most notably in the legend where she intervenes between Izanagi and Izanami at the boundary of the underworld in the Nihon Shoki. Over time, worship of Kukurihime-no-kami spread through Hakusan shrines across Japan, and she has come to be regarded by some devotees as a guardian figure connected to health and well-being, though this association is rooted more in folk tradition than in the earliest textual sources.
