住吉大神
Sumiyoshi Okami refers to the trio of Sumiyoshi deities—Sokotsutsu-no-Onomikoto, Nakatsutsu-no-Onomikoto, and Uwatsutsu-no-Onomikoto—born from the purification rites of Izanagi, and traditionally venerated as guardians of the sea, sailors, and safe travel. Enshrined chiefly at Sumiyoshi Taisha in Osaka, this deity has long been associated with maritime protection and prosperous voyages, and by extension is invoked in connection with commerce and transport. In later devotional practice, the Sumiyoshi deity has also been linked to victory in competition and sporting endeavors, reflecting its broader role in Japanese religious life as a protector deity.
