Tsukuyomi-no-mikoto is the Shinto deity of the moon, born from Izanagi during the primal purification and honored as one of the three sacred children alongside Amaterasu and Susanoo. According to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, Tsukuyomi governs the night and the lunar cycle, and one notable myth recounts a falling-out with the food goddess Uke Mochi that led to the separation of sun and moon. While later folk traditions have sometimes linked Tsukuyomi to fortune and the rhythms of harvest tied to lunar timing, the deity's core documented domain remains the moon and night rather than wealth itself.
