Homudawake no Mikoto (Emperor Ojin)

Homudawake no Mikoto, traditionally identified as Emperor Ojin, is a legendary sovereign of early Japan who, according to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, was born to Empress Jingu after her campaign toward Korea and later ascended as the fifteenth emperor. After his death he became venerated as Hachiman, a kami widely enshrined for protection, martial valor, and guidance in warfare, a role that later extended to associations with victory in contests and worldly prosperity. Shrines dedicated to him, most notably Usa Jingu and Iwashimizu Hachimangu, remain centers of devotion, though claims about specific blessings should be understood as matters of tradition and faith rather than verified fact.
