宗像三女神
The Munakata Three Goddesses—Tagorihime, Tagitsuhime, and Ichikishimahime—are a trio of kami enshrined at Munakata Taisha in Fukuoka Prefecture, born from Amaterasu according to the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. They have long been venerated as guardians of the sea and safe passage, historically linked to maritime travel and communication between Japan and the Korean peninsula. Ichikishimahime in particular came to be associated with Benzaiten through syncretic Buddhist-Shinto tradition, connecting the group to broader themes of beauty and the arts.
